Ok, so this weekend I got the chance to dust off my copy of Mass Effect and give it another shot after finally completing Assassins Creed. Everything was fine, moving smoothly from elevator to elevator until I came across the boss bitch from hell.
Apparently I wasn’t playing this game right from the get go because I had no idea of the surplus of upgrades I had in my equipment menu. After about 5 and a half hours of gameplay I had yet to activate a single item before being stuck in the middle of this battle. Unfortunately I kept overwriting my saves on the same file so I had no alternate loading point either. I don’t know what was worse, the 2 minutes of loading time after each death, being forced to to watch the same cut scene every time (pressing x helps a little) or getting killed 6 seconds into the battle for the millionth time. I tried everything, then tried it again before finally giving up and going to bed. I woke up with a promise to myself to finally destroy this BITCH Benezia, and after a few more attempts I was able to squash her and her team of flunkies with a merciless barrage of biotic attacks and shotgun blasts.

LOL…good to know…I’m at Noveria right now and hunting her down…luckily, I’ve been upgrading my characters the second they gain a level and upgrading their weapons/items to the best I can get…now i have a massively strong party and I don’t remember when the last time I died was… I have a feeling Benezia, with my destructive Biotics and crazy weaponry will not be much of a challenge…plus I have Garrus (MADD sniper with Advanced Assassination) and Wrex (takes SO much damage it’s not even funny) with me…so I don’t think taking her down will be much of a problem.
Anyways…another thing I’d like to say…I’ve noticed that if I can’t do something one night, then the morning right after I’ve slept on it, I get it within the first few tries…weird how that works eh?

yeah man, It sounds like youre in good shape to face her! dont underestimate her though. haha. Now that Ive got the hang of things im hoping not to have such a hard time on the other bosses.
As far as the next day thing, I know what you mean but I always have to try “just one more time.” haha, that turns into 10 and 20. If you can wait, I guess it helps to go in fresh.

Since i did get this game 10 days b4 the street date, I have a pretty good handle on how to set up my charactor to HER fullest capacities. That being said, I hate this BITCH Benezia. I was able to get past the other battles relatively easily, but that bitch is CRAZY!!!! You die without being touched, those f-ing asari are sooo quick, its hard to get a bead on them. Then, watching the same cut scene again and again and again…Will drive a girl insane! I was so fed up with that battle that I actually left the planet and went on to bigger and better ones.
I just cant wait to get back there and with a little luck and hefty biotics, I will slay the Matriarch once and for all.

I think I spent about 3 hours straight trying to beat this bitch and her flunkies. I remember I was so happy when I killed a bunch of them and thought I was done. Then… NOPE! I eventually got it done, though. Now I’ve got about 20-30 hours of gameplay in. (Just beat Feros)

I guess maybe I might have a problem with her tho…im good though at playing it safe when i need to and with unity i can get my buddies back into the fight. And I love abusing my biotics.

Btw, as of now, I’m a Level 28 Vanguard.
Hoping to get to Level 30 before I face her but I have a feeling I’m really close…I just reactivated the reactor and talked to that VI about the tram…how close am i?

youre getting pretty close. a few more elevators and youre there. haha. I think youre ready though. Espeically if you can bring your fallen comrades back. I couldnt do that. I imagine if you make a good use of the provided cover and can use your biotics youll be in good shape. Im looking forward to hearing about it when you get there though!

Finally! The best way to fight this battle is by arming yourself to the fullest (biggest gun, highest armor that kind of stuff) then she should be no problem.

Just got the game today and got a chance to play for an hour or so, I did die a couple of times mainly because I wanted so badly to just “get to the meat” that I basically skipped all the tutorials… BAD BOY! I didn’t even know how to use cover nor that I could crouch… damm.
Anyways, I’m not a fan of RPGs at all but decided to give this a chance since I’ve heard you can actually skip the rpg elements if needed. Well, as I said, I just finished the first level and gotta say I’m quite impressed, there is a lot of dialog but the wheel thing… I’m loving it. Customization was nice (my daughter created a female liking of herself… quite amusing
)
I don’t remember what class I chose but was something with I think biotics and medium firepower?? Since I’m not a RPG adept I chose to do the upgrading automatically, I’m trying to learn on the fly you know… so, you think I’ll be able to handle that BITCH you people are talking about with my settings? Playing on normal.

@ secho – I think you will be ok as long as you have a decent understanding of the upgrades and the battle. Shes tough, I wouldnt rush right into her. I didnt do any side missions before hand to level up. So, do a few of those, get your squad ready and then bring it to that BITCH!

wow…no offense…but that was easy peasy…the first time i died cuz i didn’t realise you had to kill 4 waves of her squads to battle her…but once i realised that i killed them first try and got to go at her. after that…right when i went to fight her, i died as i had almost no sheilds left and almost no health left…reloaded…learned and used barrier and a health pack right away…spammed her with my biotic attacks…ran away…saw the other commandos lurking around…so i had wrex put a stasis on her so she couldnt shoot me. killed the commandos, she came out of stasis about 3/4 of the way thru killing off the commandos…so i killed them and then used all my recharged biotics on her…used an adrenaline burst (fill up all MY biotics) and then spammed her with more biotics and the one that lets you shoot your pistol crazy fast…and that was the end of her. took me about 5-10 mins to finish her off.
now all i have to do is do one important mission and i get to “complete my romantic plot”…with liara. and i’m using a female. yes, i like it like that. ahahhahaha
anyways…just thought i’d let you know how i fared.

good job datz. Im glad you didnt have as much trouble as I did. you were definitely more prepared for the battle than I was. either way, killing matriarch benezia is always a good thing! Now lets see how secho does when he gets there!

Yea…and the best thing is…I’m just doing Virmire now, which according to the achievements should be close to the last thing before me fighting saren…lol

you people are insane, that battle was easy i only died like once. the best thing to do is just stay where you are after the cutscene because benezia usually cant hit u. then u just kill her goonies and then go up and unload on her.

ya well ive tried many times to beat her, but i dont think i really did everything right. right now im a level 9 and im facing here and i knokw what to do now but i just dont have the time to do it. I started just staying in the same place but i kept dying so i decided to go clockwise. i shoot the fuel tanks when the first two asari are coming for me and they just get vaporized. then i move over where they came from, kill the geth and just wait. you can easily get the two asari coming from the bridge again but then i just died for no reason so i havent been able to play it since. ill get it by tonight though so i dont care

go to the pause menu and go to equipment, it should show you in there, also it may tell you when you go to “squad” as well. Im not sure..

I started as a Soldier and did all the upgrades and picked up as much as I could (except those containers that kept saying “security too low”) and ended up taking the two hot chicks with me (my mistake). Being a soldier and the other chick being a soldier, the only one with biotics was Matriarch Benezia’s daughter. We finished off the 1st 4 waves after I figured out that Matriarch Benezia could not be damaged until all her goonies are dead but the dang thing went to cutscene at the absolute worst time….everyone in my party was low on everything (mainly health) and when the fighting started immediately after the long cutscene, the dropped like flies within 2 seconds. I used the unity power to bring them back and then a healthpack but even then we get overrun 2 seconds after that. Usually, all it takes is for me to get hit a single time to get knocked down (even at full health) and my entire team will die during that time and I will ALWAYS die before being able to get back up. VERY frustrating.
I kinda pisses me off that the game seems fairly easy up to this point and then WHAM! Seems somewhat impossible with the combination of choices I made up to that point to win. I actually lived long enough to kill Benezia but only after focusing on killing her and none of the other Asari…which promptly surrounded and ended us easily.
Oh well, back to playing Oblivion and creating more mods!!!

Yeah , Noveria is the first planet I went two, im a soldier, and I’ve managed LUCKILY to kill the wave of freaks, but now im uo to kill the bitch and it is absolutely impossible, waht am I suppose to do? I dont have craz biotics power and the freaking atari commandos are unkillable. I dont know what to do….anyone?

ok, I am playing on the hardcore difficulty, and I am a vanguard with wrex and garrus. Does anyone have an actual strategy? I am pissed off cause I beat her on the normal difficulty no problem. But now that I am on hardcore it seems impossible. I need a good strategy.
Any takers?

Well i have finished this game on veteran, hardcore and am trying Insanity now. The best way to beat her is get a soldier. You as the soldier as they are just tanks, use immunisation and keep healing. Also dont try the game as a Sentinal on insanity, it makes the 2nd matriarch battle impossible as they follow u around.
And il give some more advice to people. When your in the first battle (or even 2nd) run to the corner behind benezia where she cant get you (and your not spose to atak her first time round incase you didnt realise) and use a sheild of some sort such as barrier or immun or wateva u have and take out the enemies in 1 corner than stay there. That corner will be your holdout spot. Just stay there till ur abilities r ready to take the rest of em. And you probaley should do Feros first as youll be a higher level. And upgrade your weapons.

I did pretty much every single mission before this one (because saving the lives of salarians and whatnot seemed more urgent), so this fight really wasn’t much of a problem for me. I actually tried my best NOT to kill her, in hopes that she would somehow be able to be free of Saren’s mind-control…

I’m in the same shape as Carl, first planet and solider, the first couple waves weren’t too bad but now I get killed asap. I’ve tried trying to take her down close rnage and using the room as a base, ive tried running to the side and taking down the asari commandos. Nothing works. I fi get close to her i automatically die. If i kill one asari another runs at me and finsihes me or the bitchriarch walks over and kills me with her thoughts
